"On October 8th 2006, I was one of the applicants to take the exam to become one of the very first California Certified Florists (CCF).
In the weeks prior to the exam the San Francisco Flower Mart was buzzing with nervous energy among the florists that had signed up to take the exam. What to expect, how would the exam day really be and would we pass?
On the day of the exam we were greeted by a very well organized staff, which walked and talked us through the first steps of signing in.
The whole day was very well prepared and the instructions were absolutely clear and easy to follow. The first half of the day was dedicated to the written part of the exam. Both, the plant identification and the questions regarding floral design and plant care, were strictly based on the text books we had ordered together with the application. It was very rewarding to apply the knowledge from the books that I had studied with for the exam.
After lunch we worked on the three required floral designs and were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful selection of flowers and containers.
My impression overall was one of a very well planned and executed exam, that was supported by a large group of volunteers who were ready to make a difference for the floral industry in California. Thank you!"
